Consumers should stop using the recalled bicycles immediately and contact Haro to learn where to take their bicycles to have the crankset replaced free of charge. Independent bicycle shops nationwide sold these bicycles from May 2002 through August 2002 for between $190 and $200.
The model names are printed on the top and down tube of the F2, and on the top tube of the Backtrail XO. The models involved are the F2 and the Backtrail XO. The recall includes the 2003 Haro BMX freestyle bicycles.
This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. Haro has not received any reports of incidents or injuries. The rider's foot could come in contact with the front wheel, causing the rider to lose control, fall and possibly suffer serious injury. The length of the crank arm in the 2003 model fails to allow sufficient space between the rider's foot and the front wheel, when the front wheel is turned backwards.
